New Health Care reform touted by President Obama will allow for people, regardless of preexisting health conditions, to receive a form of medical insurance coverage. Many people in the United States are facing tough decisions right now because of the skyrocketing cost of health care and the difficulty of obtaining coveragefor persons with a pre-existing health condition. Many health insurance providers will flat out deny you coverage if too many red flags are thrown up upon review of your medical health history. If your lucky enough to find the provider that will carry you with the pre-existing conditions, the cost is often to high to afford anyway.
The health care reform that will encompass participants with pre-existing conditions does not go into full effect until 2014 so many states are beginning to set up temporary high risk insurance pools known as Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan programs. Section 1101 of the Affordable Care Act offers insurance coverage to American citizens or persons lawfully present in the United States who have been uninsured for at least six months and who have a preexisting condition. This program can be run by the state or the federal government. The insurance program is available, but it is not perfect. Some experts believe it will still be too costly for lower income families to afford. Specific state websites will have local information detailed.
